Developer Pearl Abyss is aiming to bring its upcoming open-world action title, Crimson Desert, to the Switch 2 in the first half of 2027.

In a recent earnings letter to shareholders, the studio detailed its strategy for the game's long-term success, which includes planned DLC, strategic pricing, and broader platform expansion. Pearl Abyss emphasized that bringing the title to Nintendo's next-gen hardware won't be a basic port, but rather a tailored build designed to maintain the game's visual fidelity, combat, and seamless open world.

According to the letter, Crimson Desert is already in a playable state on Switch 2 hardware, though further optimization is required:

"In the case of Switch 2, while optimization is required, the game is currently playable at a foundational level, and technical evaluations are underway to ensure performance optimization and compliance with our quality standards. While it is difficult to confirm a definitive launch schedule at this time, we are working toward a release targeted for the first half of 2027."

The studio's push toward a Nintendo release has been in motion for several months. During a shareholders' meeting in March, CEO Heo Jin-young confirmed that internal R&D was already exploring a potential port, acknowledging that while the system's specs require some graphical compromises compared to main consoles, the team remains keenly interested in supporting the platform.
